Toga Hotels and NRMA acquire Hotel Kurrajong, to become Travelodge Kurrajong.
Located in the suburb of Barton, Hotel Kurrajong is close to Parliament House and a significant commercial & government office precinct - a much sought after address in Canberra.
The property will undergo significant internal refurbishment, within heritage guidelines, to bring it up to the modern and comfortable standard enjoyed by Travelodge guests in 16 hotels across Australia and New Zealand. The works will include an expansion of the number of guest rooms. Once complete, Travelodge Kurrajong will continue to offer extensive conferencing facilities, including several function and meeting rooms. Food and beverage options will include a restaurant and bar.
Allan Vidor, Managing Director of Toga Group, said, “Toga Hotels is delighted to have acquired Hotel Kurrajong, to be known as Travelodge Kurrajong after the completion of an extensive internal refurbishment. Expansion in Canberra has always been high on Toga Hotels’ agenda and this acquisition complements Toga Hotels’ current growth strategy, along with our existing properties in the region.”
Rachel Argaman, CEO of Toga Hotels, said, “Canberra is a destination that continues to impress with its sophistication and commercial importance, whilst remaining an important government hub. This new hotel project is in conjunction with NRMA, a long standing partner of Toga Hotels. Together, we will offer guests an affordable accommodation option that celebrates the old and the new of the Australian capital.”
